Private Pottery Classes

Looking for a more personal pottery experience?

Private classes at The Northern Pottery are designed for individuals who want a quieter, more focused session in the studio. Whether you are completely new to clay or looking to build confidence on the wheel, this is a relaxed and supportive way to spend time learning at your own pace.

Private Pottery Classes at TNP

These sessions are different to our group workshops, with more one on one guidance and the flexibility to focus on what you would most like to explore.

You are also welcome to bring a friend along if you would prefer to share the experience

Choose Your Experience

Pottery Wheel Experience

A guided introduction to throwing on the wheel, with step by step support throughout the session. This is ideal if you would like to try the wheel for the first time or spend some focused time improving your technique.

This is the most popular option for first time visitors.

Handbuilding Pottery Workshop

A slower, more design focused session using handbuilding techniques to create a mug, cup or small vessel. This option suits those who prefer a more relaxed pace and enjoy working with texture and surface.

Ideal if you prefer a slower, more design focused session.

What's included:
  • 2 hour private pottery class

  • Your choice of pottery wheel or handbuilding

  • Personalised guidance throughout

  • Clay, tools and use of studio equipment

  • Glazing and firing of one piece per person

  • Collection once your work is ready

  • Tea and coffee in the studio

Additional pieces can be arranged if you would like to keep more than one for additional cost.

A more personal studio experience

Private classes are quieter and more tailored than a public workshop, with time to focus on your own pace and interests. They are well suited to those who want a more individual experience, or simply prefer to learn in a smaller, more relaxed setting.
